Alita: Battle Angel sequel demands have once again increased after the Disney Fox merger. The cyberpunk movie based on the Japanese manga Battle Angel Alita was received with mixed response and a slow box-office opening. But with time, viewers noticed the gem of a movie and it became a huge hit in China and other international audiences.

Fans have been waiting for Alita sequel ever since that and now it is in the hands of Disney to greenlight the movie. James Cameron himself will be involved this time with the second installment of Alita: Battle Angel 2 and based on the DVD and digital media sales, Disney could soon approve the Alita sequel.

Alita: Battle Angel had a great world-building, showing the post-apocalyptic cities and the difference between the sky cities and the earth cities. Rosa Salazar, the actress who played the role of cyborg Alita did a great job and is on board for a sequel along with the director Robert Rodriguez.

The first Alita movie ended with the revelation of the villain Nova portrayed by Edward Norton which indicates that the makers have planned storylines for several sequels. Alita: Battle Angel 2 will continue the story of Alita as she reaches Zalem to confront Nova. There is no fixed release date for now, but the script is ready and as soon as Disney gives a signal, production will start which makes Alita sequel to have a release date in 2021.

Disney has so far not revealed its plans on the sequel of Alita: Battle Angel and it would be decided based on the home media sales. The number of people who have purchased the DVDs, Blurays and digital copies of Alita movie has so far liked the movie and demanded a sequel.

Disney rarely cancels any movie which has a huge fan following and so will be the case for Alita: Battle Angel. Further, James Cameron himself is involved with the Alita 2 movie and there is no way Disney will say no to him. If everything goes right, we could soon see Alita: Battle Angel 2 going on floors as Disney approves the sequel.
