Alita Battle Angel 2 Release Doubtful, Disney+ Might Opt for Alternative Instead

Alita Battle Angel 2 TV Series Rumors Could the Alita Sequel be turned into Disney+ Series

Alita: Battle Angel 2 is still now renewed by Disney despite so much of fan demands, petitions and flying banners at the Oscars. It is not as easy as it sounds given the business aspects and rights dispute involved in the Alita franchise. However, there are other ways to bring the Alita sequel to life by turning it into a Disney+ TV series. It doesn’t matter whether Alita: Battle Angel 2 releases in theaters or a streaming platform, fans will be happy to see the future story.

Alita: Battle Angel 2 Works Better as Disney+ Series

Alita Battle Angel 2 Works Better as Disney+ Series

Alita movie is based on the Japanese manga series “Gunnm” by Yukito Kishiro published in the 1990s and it has nine volumes. Whereas the first Alita: Battle Angel live-adaptation film only used the first two volumes as the source material. Even though the movie storyline was not 100 percent faithful to the manga series, it was very close to the manga sources hinting that Alita: Battle Angel 2 will use the remaining volumes for the story.

It would be very hard to squeeze so many manga volumes into a single story which is why Alita sequel will work much better as a TV series. James Cameron can add “Alita: Battle Angel 2” to the Disney+ library or original TV shows and flesh the story to six 1-hour episodes. It has been already done by Disney Plus shows such as WandaVision, Loki and Falcon and the Winter Solider. There might be some casting issues given big names such as Edward Norton to work for TV, but Rosa Salazar could easily reprise her role in the Alita: Battle Angel Disney+ series.

The first movie used heavy CGI and a lot of VFX, which means it will take years in production and filming. Everyone is hoping that Disney will surprise the fans by announcing Alita 2 movie at the end of this year.
