The Gaon Music Chart has received some pleasing entries for certification this year. And, you will be more happier  to see, the chart contains entries from our favorite bands. The BlackPink, BTS, TWICE or GOT7, they all have made to the lists of Gaon Music Chart certifications.

The certification system was first installed on January 1, 2018. It reviews and rewards the music pioneers for their album sale achievements and number of downloads made. A further category stores songs with high frequency of online streaming. Our very own, Korea Music Content Industry Association put forward the idea of Gaon Music Chart.

To achieve a platinum certification, an album must sell over 250,000 copies. Furthermore, an album gets a subtle fame for every million copies, they sell worldwide.

The platinum status is also  awarded to songs that have surpassed 2.5 million downloads. A higher credit, Diamond status(they say) is awarded for generating 10 million downloads.

Meanwhile, a song can obtain platinum certifications for 100 million streams made. They have  also created the category for  billion certification~ of highly rare “billion streams.”

Adhering to the given guidelines, the Gaon Music Chart has selected four albums for receiving the over-nice certifications.

Habitually, BTS tops the selection lists with their album “Map of the Soul: Persona.” The album is currently enjoying the status of Triple million certification.

Moreover, it has become the first Korean album to reach the “almost-impossible” milestone since the day, the system was implemented.

The boy-band achieved the feat in not more than two months, as they released the album on April 12.

Besides the record-breaker BTS, BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love,” and TWICE’s “Fancy You,” have fetched platinum certifications. Both the albums have reportedly sold more than a million copies since their releases.
GOT7’s “Spinning Top: Between Security & Insecurity” turned out to be the most unusual and surprising entry in the charts. The album too have received platinum certifications for sales.

For streaming certifications, “Solo” by Jennie from BLACKPINK and Vibe’s “Fall in Fall” have received platinum credits, for both have garnered around a billion streams.
