Fast & Furious 9 should have been out a year ago but somehow the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the movie release and everything is now in limbo. Even though the theaters are allowed to operate with limited capacity, there is no way Universal will release their biggest blockbuster such as Fast and Furious 9 in these times.
Fans of the FF series will have to wait for a few more months until everyone is vaccinated and the threat of coronavirus is completely over. Fast & Furious 9 will introduce the character of John Cena and also bring back Sung Kang’s Han from the dead, which is confusing and raises many questions.
Fast & Furious 9 Release Date and COVID-19 Delay
Fast & Furious 9 release date was postponed a year and it is now set as May 26, 2021, but that doesn’t mean the movie will come out by then. While everything about F9 is ready, the fact is the COVID-19 pandemic is still not over.
It’s nearly impossible for movies that carry price tags around $200 million to turn a profit in the current film landscape. That means #FastAndFurious sequel “F9” and James Bond entry #NoTimeToDie will likely vacate their release dates. https://t.co/AhJp11n4er pic.twitter.com/l7DyGuYG7e

We have seen that movies such as Black Widow and James Bond: No Time to Die have been delayed multiple times and no one knows when will things get back to normal. The only thing sure about the Fast and Furious 9 release date is that the movie will only come out once theaters are totally safe and can operate on 100 percent occupancy.
Fast & Furious 9 Spoilers for John Cena and Sung Kang
Fast & Furious 9 trailer shows John Cena as Jakob Torreto as the main villain who is Dominic Torreto’s (Vin Diesel) long-lost brother. Jakob is a deadly assassin who works for Cipher (Charlize Theron) and wants to destroy Dom’s life. It seems that the makers wanted Fast and Furious 9 to be more personal which is why they have pitted the brothers against each other.
Fast and Furious 9 also reveals that Han played by Sung Kang is back from the dead and everyone is still confused. But then again we have seen that no one in the movies actually dies as long as we don’t see a body. Han will play an integral role in F9 and the movie will explain how he survived the car explosion.
