Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer are all coming back after so many years on the same screen for an unscripted special Friends episode. But even before the filming could have started, the project got delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. There are now reports that Friends reunion could be a virtual web call sort of thing if the lockdown is not over by the end of Summer.
Friends Reunion Special Delay due to COVID-19 Lockdown
Friends special reunion episode was supposed to come out with HBO Max launch in May, but unfortunately, it got delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Every cast member is stuck at their house as it is not safe to go out in the public. It simply means that the Friends reunion will not come out until the Coronavirus lockdown is over.
Bob Greenblatt, Warner Media Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer chairman have said that they want to finish the production by the end of this Summer. “At first we thought, shows will be delayed for a month or two at the most, and now it seems like it’s going to be far longer than that” Gilbert told in a recent interview.
Virtual Friends Reunion Episode will not be that Fun
Friends reunion taking a virtual route won’t be that satisfying as it would mean six people on a web call or six squares shooting from their bedrooms and kitchens. Greenblatt told that they are doing their best to push through the original plans and hope that the wait is worth having the stars come together for real. Although, if the coronavirus quarantine takes too long, there would be no option other than to have a virtual Friends reunion and give fans something to watch on HBO Max.
