Apple’s gen-next budget iPhone is coming out in the first half of 2020 and while most people were expecting that Apple will call it iPhone SE 2, the company is actually going for a different route by calling it the iPhone 9. This is an interesting change in strategy as the company clearly does not want to remind people that they are using what is essentially a budget iPhone and are hence going with this clever change in name!

iPhone SE 2 to be iPhone 9: Long Term Planning from Apple?
Apple released iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, and then came out with iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X. Interestingly, there was no iPhone 9 then and since then the company hasn’t ever tried to fill that gap! Could that have been Apple’s plan from three years ago? Did the company know that they were going to release a budget iPhone in 2020 and it would make sense to give it a proper name than call it SE 2? If so, that would be a great business strategy from the trillion-dollar giant.
Interestingly, when iPhone 9 (iPhone SE 2) will finally hit the markets, it is actually going to replace iPhone 8 and 8 Plus smartphones, which are currently Apple’s oldest-generation iPhones which are still in sale.
We're getting an iPhone SE 2 in the first half of 2020 for roughly $399~$450 with an a13 chip and an iPhone 8 body style, it will probably be replacing the OG iPhone 8 for sale right now. they'll prob terminate the iPhone XR and replace it with the 11 as their "low end premium"
