LA Lakers have signed veteran point guard, Avery Bradley on a two year deal on Monday. The deal will be worth $9.7m and Bradley has cleared all his waivers before this as per The Times.
The deal comes in the aftermath of Kawhi Leonard’s shock move to the Clippers. The Lakers who were expecting Kawhi Leonard to come and had a good salary cap left for him are now in a fix. Their roster is now overly filled with point guards with Bradley being the ninth one out of a total of 15.
Lakers one short of filling their roster
The Los Angeles Lakers have already completed signing 14 of the total 15 allowed in the roster. One surprising thing to note in that is they have as many as 8 point guards already in the 14. And that’s excluding LeBron James who will be a starter at point come the start.
Bradley will now join the newly signed Danny Green,Troy Daniels and Quinn Cook. Others at the position can be Rajon Rondo, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Alex Caruso. Bradley though is different than many of these who are more attacking. He has earned his name as a great one on one defender getting named in All Defenders team in 2016.

Bradley – The three pointer specialist
Avery Bradley has a career accuracy of 36.4% at shooting 3-pointers. Bradley though struggled with injuries at Clippers last season. His stats read 8.2 point average along with 33.4% three-point shooting. In a deadline trade with Memphis, he regained form averaging 16.1 in 14 games along with 38.4% shooting. Lakers will hope for Bradley to continue his late season form or it could again turn into a one-year deal for Bradley.
The 6-foot-2 veteran is in the tenth year of his career. He can boost up Lakers’ defense but it will be interesting to see if their last pick will be a point forward. They definitely need a third to complement Davis and James forward.
