As fans already know that Lucifer has been renewed for Season 6. This led to some last minute tweaks in the finale of Season 5. Lucifer will end with Season 6. The crew and cast had to scramble a good story for Season 5 finale as Lucifer is renewed for Season 6.
Kevin Alejandro plays the role of Detective Daniel Espinoza on the show. Alejandro also directed the season finale of Lucifer’s fifth installment. He said that the show’s renewal has thrown everyone for a loop.
Lucifer’s team wasn’t expecting the renewal and they put their best into Season 5. They thought that it was the final run of the show. Alejandro said,
All of us went into it, and continued throughout the journey, up until the episode before the last one, thinking this was our series finale. That this [season five] was the show finale. You can tell, I think, just even through the scripts and through the episodes that they didn’t hold anything back, they were just pushing forward.

Few months back before ending Season 5, Lucifer’s team was under the impression that Season 5 would be the finale season. But then Netflix had change of plans. Initially, the team struggled to come with the story line for Season 6.
Lucifer’s cast and crew were completely clueless where they were headed. They have worked really hard to give the fans the ending they deserved. Lucifer’s team had put their all in Season 5. Alejandro said that everyone was surprised, but super excited too.
Finally, the writers managed to make some of the last minute changes required. Alejandro did not talk about these tweaks in Lucifer Season 5.
