Lucifer fans should rejoice as Tom Ellis is coming back as the devil for the sixth season of the show which was earlier renewed by Netflix. Ildy Modrovich, the main showrunner of Lucifer has kind of confirmed to fans that Tom Ellis is not leaving the show and he will resume his character of Lucifer Morningstar for the sixth installment of the series.

Lucifer Season 6 was renewed by Netflix a few months ago but there were reports that Tom Ellis might not come back as there are contract issues between the two parties. However, Modrovich claimed that Ellis getting replaced by Ian Somerhalder from Vampire diaries was the joke of the day. Lucifer Season 6 will go on floors soon with Tom Ellis returning as the titular devil character.

Tom Ellis has been replaced Ian Somerhalder famous for the role of Damon Salvatore from Vampire Diaries was the main rumor floating a few days ago. To make it worse, it was also reported that the contract negotiations of Ellis with Warner Bros. Television were not going well. But it was all denied recently, as Tom Ellis is on board to return for Lucifer Season 6 when the show is officially renewed by Netflix.

Lucifer Season 5 was earlier announced the last and final season of the series, but Netflix considered to renew it for Season 6 after the amazing fan response. While the filming for Lucifer has been halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, it will start soon and even Lucifer Season 6 will go on floors at the same time.

Lucifer Season 5 has only a few days of filming and yet the creators taking so much time indicates that they are planning to shoot the sixth season too. There are so many safety guidelines to follow for filming such as limited shooting hours, less production staff, no crowded scenes, etc.

Lucifer Season 6 might also start filming as it would take longer than usual to finish the filming schedule. It is expected that Lucifer Season 5 should release in August 21 as the post-production of the first 15 episodes is already complete. Lucifer Season 6 release date will be set around May 2021 as per the same schedule, if things move smoothly without any issues.
