NYC announced a public health emergency because of the spread of measles over the province of Brooklyn. It has called out for varied significant vaccinations for preventing the same.

The areas of emergency have been notified as the four Brooklyn ZIP Codes incorporating the Borough Park and Williamsburg. The number of cases, especially in these two regions are 285 since October.

As expressed by de Blasio, he not at all wants Measles to make a comeback in New York City and there is a need to stop it anyhow. Since it has affected children too, this is now a serious concern.

It stands mandatory for the unimmunized children and adults to get proper vaccinations to even prove it to medical exemptions. Those found guilty in this shall have to pay a fine.

The city is continually indulged in taking some steps for the same, but all went in vain. This is due to the existence of a good number of unvaccinated citizens. These recent steps included refusing unvaccinated children to go to school.

It can lead to death, brain swelling and pneumonia.  Two drops of vaccination can lead to the prevention of Measles. Presently, New York City is considered as the ‘epicentre of Measles’ and this situation should be handled.

This outbreak is a result of mistrust amongst the residents which did not believe in providing vaccine to the children. As confirmed, Measles is affecting especially the unvaccinated children who are aged 18 years and lesser. Majority of them didn’t die but they were admitted to the hospital.
