Minnesota riots have erupted after a large crowd gathered to protest on the wrongful killing of a black man while the police were arresting him. George Floyd was requesting the police officer who was kneeling on his neck that he can’t breathe. The officer didn’t let him go for seven minutes despite Floyd asking for mercy, where he was declared dead a few hours later in the hospital.

George Floyd’s death due to the police brutality against black men quickly gained traction and thousands of people gathered on the 3700 block of Chicago Avenue, where Floyd was arrested. The protesters started marching towards Minneapolis Police’s 3rd Precinct building from the site of Floyd’s arrest.

The officers dressed in riot gears used smoke bombs, tear gas, and flash grenades to stop the protesters. Many of them also started to throw bricks and rocks at police cars and one of the Minnesota police offers was injured. One of the demonstrators was hit in the head by a rubber bullet and it sparked the riots in Minnesota where police and protesters were clashing against each other.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has said that whatever happened with George Floyd is horrible and totally messed up. He wrote on Twitter that, “Every life matters and being black in America is not a death sentence, what I saw is wrong at every level.”
