It’s another race Sunday for Pocono fans and once Kyle Busch is favourite to win. Kyle Busch perhaps is now habitual of entering history books and Sunday’s Gander RV 400 is yet another opportunity.

Like always, Busch is again favourite as per odds too. If he does manage to fulfill expectations, he will become only the third driver to win 3 in a row. Bobby Allison (1982-83) and Tim Richmond (1986-87) were the previous two to win 3 consecutive 2.5-mile triangular track races.

Records Kyle Busch can break on Sunday

Busch last won here in Long Pond last year and then won June’s NASCAR too. He has also won 5 of the last seven races in NASCAR National Series at Pocono. He won the NASCAR cup in July 2017, July 2018 and June this year. Kyle Busch also won the Xfinity Series and Truck Series race in 2018.

A win here will also make Kyle Busch the eighth driver to perform a season sweep at Pocono. Other remarkable records of Busch are :

#1 in all-time Xfinity wins – 96
#1 in all-time Truck wins – 56
#9 in all-time Cup wins – 55

“It’s pretty cool to have some of those things when you go to different places and be able to score wins like we have and try to continue that count,” Busch said.

Kyle Busch though was wary of other contenders for Sunday’s race cutting off complacency.

“But there are some guys who are pretty fast here this weekend. So we’ll have our work cut out for us.”

Two car crashes highlight practice session

Kyle Larson and Chase Elliot will now race with backup cars courtesy their reckless driving. Larson severely damaged his No.42 Chevrolet off the outside wall which spun to break the rear. He will now start 21 on his backup car.

“I apologize to my guys here and the people back at the shop, It was just stupid.”

Chase Elliot then crashed his right rear onto the wall in Round 1. He thus damaged his No.9 Chevrolet and will now start 14th on his backup.

“The lap wasn’t that good, but I set us up for failure when I crashed that first car.”
