Carmelo Anthony is finally getting a new deal from Portland Trail Blazers after staying out of NBA for almost a year. The times were tough for Melo as none of the NBA teams were ready to sign him after the Houston Rockets released him abruptly during the 2018-19 season. The 35-years-old small forward had a huge experience of playing basketball and even represented Team USA and won the Olympics gold medal for them and has been a nine-time NBA All-Star member.
Anthony will join the Blazers on upcoming road trip, per source. Power forward was the position that Blazers were most vulnerable and injury to Zach Collins only amplified void there. ‘Melo comes for a specific role and need.

New York Knicks, LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, etc. teams were linked with Melo but none of the trades worked out. As per the latest reports, the Trail Blazers have finally signed Carmelo Anthony for a non-guaranteed contract in the NBA 2019-20 season.
Damian Lillard and Carmelo Anthony Duo
Carmelo Anthony going to Portland Trail Blazers makes sense as the team has been losing badly in this season. Damian Lillard scored 60 points in the game against the Brooklyn Nets and Portland still lost the game at 115-119 as none of the other supportive players even crossed the 15-points mark.
Damian Lillard was notified on the potential of adding Carmelo Anthony last night and he made it clear that he’s always been supportive of bringing in the future Hall-of-Famer, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. Portland searching for a boost to what has been a slow start.

Lillard in the NBA 2019-20 has an average of 28.6 points, 6.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds, but somehow Portland is not able to win games. The Trail Blazers and Lillard need someone to take charge and secure victory in such situations. The duo of Carmelo Anthony and Damian Lillard will be perfect as the later is always supportive of Melo.
Portland Trail Blazers Needs Help in NBA 2019-20 Season
While the Trail Blazers reached the NBA Western Conference finals in the last season, the team is doing very badly in the current season as they are just at a 4-8 start. To make things worse, Zach Collins went under surgery earlier this month and won’t be back until March, which makes the frontcourt of Portland very weak.
