Lucifer Season 5 Updates Netflix to Stream the Show without Final Episode if COVID-19 Continues

Lucifer Season 5 release date should have been announced by now if it wasn’t for the COVID-19 pandemic hitting the world. Netflix has to halt filming for the fifth season of Lucifer along with all other major projects. Even though the filming was almost complete, there are still 4 days of shooting left for the final episode. It is why Netflix hasn’t released an incomplete season and waited for the coronavirus outbreak to be contained or the authorities allowing to resume filming with safety guidelines.

However, it is confirmed that Tom Ellis has finally signed a contract for Lucifer Season 6 and the deal in limbo is complete. It means that Netflix can stream Lucifer Season 5 without the final episode and end the story on a cliffhanger which will be resumed in the sixth season.

Lucifer Season 5 is almost complete with all the episodes post-produced except the last one. The first 15 episodes of Lucifer are ready whereas Episode 16 has four days of filming left. Netflix could have released Lucifer Season 5 without the final episode like “The Flash”, “Star Trek: Discovery” and several other shows that have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

But it was not clear whether they will have another season of Lucifer as there were issues with Tom Ellis over his paycheck. The recent reports indicate that things are finally resolved and Tom Ellis will be back as the devil in Lucifer Season 6. Hence, now that the path is clear to release Lucifer Season 5 without the last episode, the makers will wait for some time and if filming can’t be resumed, they will premiere the show with a missing season finale.

Lucifer Season 5 release date could be set in late June or July as per some reports which also makes sense schedule-wise. Netflix has yet to give an official update on the season premiere and is probably waiting for the corona crisis to get over.

Fans have been demanding Netflix to release Lucifer Season 5 for a long time as they have nothing to do in the quarantine and lockdown. Everyone is hoping that the fifth season of Lucifer will stream soon on Netflix and they will get to see the Devil in Hell.
