The recent reports have revealed more cases of the measles outbreak in the New York state. The Mennonite community located in the Wyoming County community has reported five severe cases this time.

The disease has severely affected people in Western New York.
This year’s CDC count reveals, approximately 1,200 cases of measles have been reported in thirty states till date. About seventy-five percent of these cases are caused because of the New York outbreak.
Measles Outbreak 2019 Breaks the Twenty-Five-Year Record
This year the measles epidemic has surpassed a twenty-five-year-old record. Experts claim that the major cause of the outbreak is lack of vaccine.
The demographic data of the cases reveal the major number of patients ranged from eleven to twelve years. Dr. Gregory Collins, Wyoming County Health Commissioner shared there are ongoing researches to find out if the cause was additional exposure.

The reports reveal, all the five affected people weren’t vaccinated. Vaccination is vital and the county’s health officials are vigorously encouraging the Mennonite community to get vaccinated. Also, the importance of vaccination is highly promoted. It is the best method to protect yourself from this measles outbreak.
The common symptoms of measles include:
- runny nose
- watery eyes
The patients are most infectious from 4 days before to 4 days post the rash appearance.

CDC revealed other states that reported cases of measles to include, Arizona, Alaska, California, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Idaho, Iowa, and Indiana.
Apart from them Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mexico, New Hampshire, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Virginia, as well as Washington are also affected
The predicted reasons for this serious outbreak include,
- A significant increase in the number of travellers who carry measles from abroad.
- A number of unvaccinated people.
