Philipe Coutinho takes a quick turnabout decision amid transfer rumors

Philipe Coutinho broke a lot of Liverpool fan’s hearts when he left the club to join Spanish giants Barcelona in 2018. The club has now reportedly offered Barcelona an offer to re-sign their former star.

According to, the Reds have offered a 2-year loan proposal with an option to buy for £88m in their initial bid. The news of Philipe Coutinho wanting to move back to the Reds isn’t a surprise looking at how disastrous his time at Camp Nou turned out to be.

Philipe Coutinho suffered poor form at Barcelona

The Liverpool star, Philipe Coutinho disappointed a lot of fans after his move to Barcelona in January last year. Philipe Coutinho invited a lot of flak from all corners. The fans aren’t even expected to give him the welcome expected for a former star.

But his quick turnaround decision is largely based on his depreciated performances for Barcelona. Philipe Coutinho was frequently in and out of the team and is now looking to come back at ‘home’ comforts.

Barcelona too would be happy to release the Brazilian midfielder looking at their recent acquisitions. They acquired services of Atletico winger Antoine Griezmann at $134m this season. Neymar is also rumored to be back at Camp Nou again. So Philipe Coutinho probably would be nothing more than an extra if he stays.

The Reds offer though didn’t impress Barcelona as per reports. Perhaps they are looking for an outright sale of Coutinho and the two year loan looks unnecessary in that case.

‘Liverpool lies very deeply in his heart’

Philippe Coutinho’s agent Joorabchin recently remarked that Coutinho isn’t in the best of spaces after he moved away from his beloved club.

“Liverpool lies very deeply in his heart. He’s a big fan of them. It would be very difficult for him to go to a direct competitor of Liverpool,” he said to Sky Sports.

Barcelona though haven’t yet confirmed their intentions of releasing the midfielder. The news is still a rumor but a rumor that has a lot of merit to it.
