Diego Costa did a Diego Costa once again. The Spanish scored 4 goals including a first half hat-trick to start Real’s embarrassing defeat but was red carded for triggering a brawl. City rivals Atletico Madrid hence finished 7-3 against giant Real Madrid in New Jersey.
But the first half was as lopsided as it could get with Diego Simeone’s side leading 5-0. Diego Costa’s exemplary run started the absolute drubbing as he stormed back to form. Post the half, Costa was at the thick of things again but because of his usual temperamental issues.
Diego Costa storm highlights first half
The Spanish forward started his dream run with a goal minutes into the match. After scoring, his hat trick at the stoppage time of the first half, Atletico lead comfortably with a 5-nil lead.
Diego Costa then added another after Real scored their first of the match in the second half. Real looked far from their best in the whole pre season. Zinedin Zidane’s side lost their opener 3-1 against Bayern Munich. They couldn’t have missed their former superstar Cristiano Ronaldo more than here at New Jersey.
Cristiano Ronaldo transferred to Juventus on a big money deal last season. The bigger problem was with their new star signing Eden Hazard who could manage just a solitary shot.
Diego Costa was in the end too hot to handle even for Real’s top notch defense of Marcelo and Sergio Ramos.

With Atletico enjoying a comfortable 6-1 advantage, Diego Costa pulled down spain teammate Dani Carvajal. That triggered a heated brawl with players from both sides getting into the scene.
Costa along with Carvajal was red carded as a result and the match resumed. The incident brought some respite to Real as they achieved some respectability with goals from Benzema and Javi.
