Based on Archie Comics, Riverdale is a popular teen drama. Riverdale came out with its first season in the year 2017 and has since released 4 seasons in a span of 2 years, 4 being extremely successful.
The fourth season has not concluded yet, though. The last episode is due on 6th of this month.
The original plan for season 4 comprised of 22 episodes. However, on recommendation from Warner Bros Television and CBS Television Studios the final 3 episodes were pushed into Season 5, hence season 4 will end with episode 19.

When Will Season 5 Be Released?
Riverdale season 5 was scheduled for an October 2020 release. However, the pandemic has caused delays for the production and it is quite possible the release date may be pushed back.
Cutting short of season 4 to 19 episodes is also attributed to the problems created by the COVID-19 situation which led to the remaining 3 episodes being pushed into season 5.

It is uncertain as to when the production will resume. In such case, it is safe to assume the release to happen sometime in 2021.
Riverdale Season 5 Cast
The cast is expected to remain unchanged in season 5 of Riverdale since no major deviation in the storyline is expected. We will see KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Camila Mended as Veronica Lodge, and Lili Reinhart will return as Betty Cooper.
Other characters including Kevin Keller played by Casey Cott, Cheryl Blossom by Madelaine Petsch, and Reggie Mantle by Charlies Melton will also return.
Riverdale Season 5 Plot
The season 4 is yet to end, and because of this it is not possible to formulate on what note season 5 will begin. Since we already know that 3 episodes of season 4 have been accommodated in season 5, the transition will be smooth and season 5 will pick up right where season 4 ends.
