Kawhi Leonard: Clippers grab All Star duo
Kawhi Leonard according to a credible source has finally decided to move to Los Angeles. But the move to everyone’s surprise will be to the Clippers. The deal is set to be maxed out for 4 years at $140.6m.
But Kawhi Leonard won’t come alone. Clippers have also managed to sign Paul George, a six time All Star himself. Paul George will be moving soon from Oklahoma Thunder to Los Angeles. The trade will instantly bring Clippers into the major powerhouses list.
What does this trade mean for Clippers ?
Kawhi Leonard is without doubt the best in the business right now. His series clinching shot in Eastern Conference final was as good as any. Kawhi Leonard finished with 732 playoff points, just behind LeBron and Micheal Jordan in league history. He averaged an astonishing 30.5 points in the finals grabbing his second finals MVP.
“He is the most like Jordan that we’ve seen,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said of Leonard on an ESPN broadcast in May.
Kawhi Leonard paired with Paul George will most probably become one of the most feared duo in the league. Paul George has recently been marred by injuries but himself was close to becoming the Finals MVP in 2018-19. He finished a remarkable 28 point average.
The transfer will mean Lakers will be hit hard. They were all but confirmed with Kawhi’s signing and were looking forward to put forward a deadly trio. Unfortunately for them, Davis and James will be the only stars they can put up now.
They will probably be looking at other options since they now would have a big salary cap left. It’s anyway impossible to replace Kawhi Leonard and Clippers will be buoyed by his and Paul George’s arrival.
The drama at the Free agency 2019 continues…
