Reports suggest that The Boys received the green light for season 2 even before its Amazon Prime debut.
This is the degree of confidence Amazon Prime has put in the show. And for good reason, because the series inspired from the comics with the same title has become one of Amazon Prime’s most successful show.
The Boys Season 2 – Release Date
No official announcements have been made in the regards of release date for season 2 of The Boys. However, all clues point to a mid-2020 release.
Season 1 released with a total of either episodes on 26th July, 2019. The probability of season 2 dropping in the same month as the first one remains high.

The creator of the show Erik Kripke has already hinted, during the 2019 Comic-Con International: San Diego, that the fans can expect season 2 at “about the same time next year.”
This would suggest that season 2 will release sometime in July 2020. Further revelations were expected to be made at the PaleyFest TV festival back in March 2020. Unfortunately, the event was cancelled because of the pandemic.
The Boys Season 2: Should we expect a delay?
None of the people in the know have made any revelations about a supposed delay of The Boys season 2. However, reports state that filming for season 2 was concluded even before 2019 ended.
Actor Karl Urban had posted moments of their final shooting on his Instagram handle. This was a conclusive evidence that filming for season 2 concluded in November 2019.
This means that pandemic may after all have no impact on the currently planned release date.

The Boys season 2: Plot Direction
Season 2 is expected to bring ample twists and turns. Urban is expected to return as Billy Butcher alongside other members of the cast. The survivors of the first season include Tomer Kapon as Frenchis, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Karen Fukuhara as The Female and Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk.
Reappearance of Giancarlo Esposito is also expected after guesting in the finale as Mr. Edgar, CEO of Vought.
