The Last of Us 2 fans are on their high moment as the highly anticipated sequel has been released. However, a lot of speculation around if and when the multiplayer mode for The Last of Us 2 will be made available. Given the fact that The Last of Us featured both single-player story campaigns as well as a multiplayer option, most gamers expected the same from The Last of Us 2.
The Last of Us 2: Should you wait for the multiplayer mode?
The original The Last of Us provided the multiplayer mode via its Factions DLC collection bundle, which enabled the players to lead a group of survivors and also compete other factions in order to survive. After choosing to side either with the Fireflies or Hunters, players must use strategy and skills in combination to survive until they make it to the post-apocalyptic setting.

The Last of Us’ DLC offered an enjoyable experience for the gamers, which has gotten many fans wondering if The Last of Us 2 will come with a similar multiplayer mode. Unfortunately, The Last of Us 2 currently allows single-player story mode only. Nevertheless, that is no indication that a multiplayer mode for The Last of Us 2 is completely off the table.

The Last of Us 2: Naughty Dog’s Comments
Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us 2 released for PlayStation 4 on 19th June, and multiplayer was not made available at launch. This does not come as a surprise if we look back at the developers’ statement from 2019 which said the game will not have a single mode. On the basis of the statement, it becomes apparent that focusing of the single-player campaign and the multiplayer mode became difficult. If they had decided to pursue both simultaneously, their attention would have been stretched too thin and resulted in compromising the game’s quality.
