The Last of Us Part 2 trailer showed that Ellie has developed a lot as a character and now has adapted perfectly to the brutal world she lives in. Not only can she protect herself, but she can also attack her enemies if required. Naughty Dog, the developers of the game has revealed that even though Ellie will be much more brutal and fierce in ‘The Last of Us 2’, she will still show emotions and won’t be completely heartless towards her enemies.
The Last of Us Part 2: Ellie will be Emotional in Killing the Enemies
The Last of Us Part 2 developers has often been criticized for making the gameplay too violent and graphic. Naughty Dog has made it clear that they won’t tone down The Last of Us sequel, but would balance it by showing how the killings are affecting Ellie. Halley Gross, the co-writer of ‘The Last of Us Part 2’ told in an interview that they want Ellie to be a character who still has empathy in the cold world.
The makers have found a new way to balance the violence and emotions for Ellie as every time she fights and kills an NPC character, the NPC’s friends or family members will scream their names in agony. Even though it is a story about the cycle of murders and violence, but more than that, it’s a conversation about the effects of systemic trauma on your soul.
