The Winds of Winter release date is still a mystery and it seems that things will get delayed once again. George RR Martin seems to have time for everything except writing the book and it has made all the fans frustrated. The 72-year-old fantasy writer is currently busy with the HBO shows “House of the Dragon” and “Roadmarks” and that has created a possible delay for The Winds of Winter book.
George RR Martin has Time for the HBO Shows and not The Winds of Winter Book
George RR Martin recently shared the news on his blog post that he has signed a new five-year deal with HBO that involves creating new Game of Thrones successor shows (some non-related series, like Roadmakrs) for both HBO and HBO Max.
He is the common-born son of the steward to the Lord of Blackhaven. FIRE & BLOOD readers him as Ser Criston Cole. HOUSE OF THE DRAGON viewers will know him as FABIEN FRANKEL. https://t.co/hnLdrf0myw pic.twitter.com/fuf6gIAzCr

Apart from that, Martin says that he is fully vaccinated now and has lost a lot of friends to COVID-19 and old age. George is also working for Meow Wolf stuff, Railroad stuff, and a brand new Wild Cards book. Fans are just wondering that with GRRM working on HBO shows and other projects, he will have no time for The Winds of Winter book.
The Winds of Winter Release Date Delay is Possible
The Winds of Winter release date was earlier set as July 2020 but that never happened and the book was delayed for an unspecific time. Now that George RR Martin is working on other things, the delay will only get extended and TWOW might never see the light of the day. While some of the reports claim that The Winds of Winter will come out in mid-2022 that seems hardly possible now due to the added delays.
