The Winds of Winter release date deadline is getting closer and it seems that George RR Martin might not finish the book on time. The 71-year-old fantasy author promised that Winds of Winter will be published by the end of July 2020, but that doesn’t seem to be happening at all.
Everyone here complaining that we never gonna get The Winds of Winter and I’m just thinking about A Dream of Spring. pic.twitter.com/qm28NE0PUi

There are now rumors claiming that GRRM is adding some more chapters to the book and making it the last entry in “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. It means “A Dream of Spring” will never be out and the seventh book in the ASOIAF saga will be merged in the sixth book. The Winds of Winter could be the last and final book which will end the Game of Thrones storyline.
George RR Martin on The Winds of Winter Progress Update
George RR Martin recently updated fans on his life in self-isolation over the fear of COVID-19 pandemic and how he is spending his time. Martin also revealed about his preparations for the virtual Worldcon event, where he was supposed to launch The Winds of Winter book originally.
I am spending long hours every day on ‘THE WINDS OF WINTER’ and making steady progress. I finished a new chapter yesterday, another one three days ago, another one the previous week.
I have to confess, after half a year of pandemic, I am showing signs of cabin fever. If nothing else, the enforced isolation has helped me write. I am spending long hours every day on THE WINDS OF WINTER, and making steady progress. https://t.co/i0DRw51PC7

GRRM can End the ASOIAF Series with only Six Books
]A Song of Ice and Fire series is one of the most popular fantasy storyline that is yet to get finished. George RR Martin understands that his age and health are one of the biggest factors why he could not complete “The Winds of Winter” on time. It could create further complications for the seventh book as he could be around 73 years old when he starts writing “A Dream of Spring” after finishing TWOW.
It would be better to merge the last two books and complete his legacy before something happens to him. Hence, George RR Martin could end the ASOIAF series with just six books where The Winds of Winter will be the final entry.
