George RR Martin has finally gotten time to write “The Winds of Winter” in the Coronavirus lockdown. The global pandemic has forced down everyone to stay inside and George has also gone under self-isolation as he is well aware of his age. The 71-year-old fantasy writer has earlier promised that Winds of Winter will be in his hands when he attends the Worldcon in New Zealand this year.

While the event has been canceled and turned into a virtual thing due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it is not sure whether GRRM will be able to keep up with his promise. Although, some of the reports are claiming that George RR Martin will finish the book soon and The Winds of Winter will be launched in July 2020.
George RR Martin is writing The Winds of Winter at Steady Pace
The Winds of Winter book is under progress for the last nine years and George is still writing the chapters. It will be the sixth installment in “A Song of Ice and Fire” series on which the Game of Thrones TV show is also based. There are so many reasons for the delay in TWOW and most of them are due to George RR Martin getting busy in other projects.
It's taken a fucking pandemic for George Martin to self isolate and get back to writing Winds of Winter.
You have ONE JOB, GEORGE.
WRITE THE FUCKING BOOKS, GEORGE.

But now that the COVID-19 pandemic has closed down everything, George has nothing to do and he is writing “The Winds of Winter” chapters at a very steady pace. It is why there are speculations that the book will be finished on time as GRRM has nothing to do, he is spending most of his time in writing down the book.
The Winds of Winter Spoilers and Story
The Winds of Winter story will be different than the Game of Thrones show as readers of the ASOIAF series are already aware of it. Catelyn Stark has turned into Lady Stoneheart to take revenge from the Freys after the events of Red Wedding where Robb Stark and his wife were killed.
Euron Greyjoy is an entirely different character in the books and he is a lot more powerful, using dark magic from the sea. Victarion Greyjoy and Jon Connington are also essential to “The Winds of Winter” storyline and HBO’s Game of Thrones don’t have those characters. Dany and the Night King are on their journey in TWOW and things will end entirely different in the books.
