William Shatner’s new crypto project will help digitize valuable objects and link their back stories. Shatner has been dealing objects since his Star Trek series in 1966. Captain Kirk is now heading his own startup named Third Millenia that’s working to make Mattereum Protocol available.
How does Mattereum Protocol work ?
Mattereum helps authenticate documents and other objects by using blockchain. The memorabilia will now have a backstory that can be accesed and authentication can be verified with ease using the technique. It has been made possible by Mattereum Asset Passport technology that uses smart contracts to verify collectibles.
Momentous times at @Mattereum. We've been digging into the legals underpinning, well, _everything_ for a year, and we hit the gold three months ago: a completely new approach to smart contract legal enforceability. Something *better* than existing paper contracts in tangible ways

The technology simply will help distinguish antique and valuable items from fake ones and would also set it’s real owners.
“I’m announcing that I’m partnering with Mattereum and other technology creators to establish an authentication system,” Williamson said at the New York Blockchain Week.
Building back story for easy transfer of assets
Williams is looking to create “digital twins” for action figures and other collectibles. The first will be a figure of Captain Kirk that’s autographed by Williams and will be marked as the personal property of him in the blockchain.
Cryptonians! My friends @VitalikButerin & @ElonMusk were trying to decide what to build on @Ethereum. I’ve been waiting & waiting 🙄 I finally decided to do something myself. Join me! 😘 Bill 👉🏻https://t.co/S8A6lAjapU #MCC2019 #blockchainweeknyc #atomicswapnyc @mattereum pic.twitter.com/NEd8MSVwHC

The figure is estimated to be worth over $270bn and is definitely worth using the technology. Not only the authenticity but Third Millenia are also looking at back story aspect. The story of the object’s ownership will provide it with value that it may not get without it. It will also help in fast and easy transfers of assets on the blockchain.
“Shatner believes proving an object’s authenticity will help it retain value, but that the ability to prove the story of its past ownership will actually give it value,” Del Castillo writes after talking to Williams
The startup would finally help in claiming properties with the tokens verifying the ownership. So it would help settling a lot of ownership disputes too.
