Coco Gauff, the 15 year old tennis sensation who beat Venus Williams to reach here headlines week 2 of Wimbledon 2019. The 313rd rank teenager has become an overnight sensation since here scarcely believable victory in Wimbledon 2019.
Going into Week 2 of Wimbledon 2019, Coco will be up against veteran champion Simona Halep. The former no.1 Simona will be wary of her 15-year old’s challenge. Coco will be riding high on confidence and is practicing in full flow at the All England Club for Monday’s match.
Wimbledon 2019: Youngest to make Week 2
Coco became the youngest player to qualify for the fourth round since 1991. The fifteen year old though has experienced it all in the last 10 days of Wimbledon 2019. She was a hardly known figure before winning million hearts following her defeat of Five time champion Venus.
Gauff though chooses to be down to earth. She showed nerves of steel in her match against her idol Venus. After the match she forgot it and took the next match as a new challenge winning in straight sets.
“My parents are just telling me to stay calm, stay focused, because the tournament is not over yet,” Gauff said.
Serena Williams proud of the 15-year old
Williams who herself scrapped through Week 1 tweeted about being proud of the 15-year old Coco. Gauff has trained in an academy run by Serena’s coach since she was 10. Gauff also became the junior runner up at US open in 2017.

Gauff is getting inspiration by talking with Mary Joe Fernandez before every match. Fernandez herself won a U.S. open match at 14. She went on to collect to doubles titles and reached 3 Grand Slam finals.
“They have the biggest input, especially my mom. She definitely changed my mindset in how I look on things. My dad, he’s the reason why I dream so big,” Gauff said.
