The Winds of Winter book is still not out even though it has been almost a decade since the last entry in the series releases. A Song of Ice and Fire series is still waiting for the sixth entry after “A Dance with Dragons” released and fans are eagerly looking forward to the future storyline. George RR Martin is quite a busy man who has been attached to so many other projects that he has hardly time to work on Winds of Winter.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed everything as the 71-year-old author is forced to go under self-isolation and has been writing new chapters of TWOW every day. Fans are wondering how much time will George RR Martin take to finish The Winds of Winter book as the promised release date is getting closer.
George RR Martin on The Winds of Winter Progress
George RR Martin recently shared on his blog that the coronavirus isolation has helped him to focus on The Winds of Winter book and he is making steady progress. Martin wrote that he is writing new chapters in TWOW book every day but it would still take a long time before the book is finished.
I finished a new chapter yesterday, another one three days ago, another one the previous week. It’s going to be a huge book, and I still have a long way to go.
The 71-year-old fantasy author also talked about the virtual Worldcon 2020 in New Zealand and how things have been changed this year due to the virus. George updated fans on the event and how is making preparations with video messages and other such things. GRRM says that it is better to stay safe and attend the Worldcon next year in person.
The Winds of Winter Release Date Possibilities
The Winds of Winter release date is set between July 29 and August 2 as per the promise made by George RR Martin. However, everyone knows that the author is never true to his word and further the COVID-19 pandemic has canceled the New Zealand event where he was about to present the book. There are hardly any chances that Winds of Winter comes out at the end of this month and fans might have to wait till 2021 to read the book.
Worldcon is coming up in a month's time, or at least it would be, if not for the pandemic. In any case, there will still be a CoNZealand, but it is going to be a virtual world con. And as toastmaster, I am going to be there… virtually… https://t.co/gKWetvtpaj pic.twitter.com/cAhyT6xyUU

I have to confess, after half a year of pandemic, I am showing signs of cabin fever. If nothing else, the enforced isolation has helped me write. I am spending long hours every day on THE WINDS OF WINTER, and making steady progress. https://t.co/i0DRw51PC7

Not even a global pandemic where we forced to stay home allowed George R.R. Martin to finish Winds of Winter.

2020 could still be totally worth it if GRR Martin finishes The Winds of Winter
