Xbox Series S is one of the most awaited gaming consoles of this year and still not many people have any idea about it. While Sony made it clear at the PS5 reveal event that there will be two console variants, regular PS5 and PS5 digital which will be discless, Microsoft is yet to reveal its digital Xbox.
But the rumor mill is strong about Xbox Series S, which was earlier called Project Lockhart when the console was in the development stage, whereas Xbox Series X was referred as Project Scarlett. There are some new rumors which claim that Xbox Series S release date is very near and here are more details on its price, features, specs and how it fares against the PS5 Digital console.
Xbox Series S Release Date and Price Rumors
Xbox Series S release date was earlier slated as June 2020 but that has to be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Sony revealing PS5 in that month. It is now rumored that Microsoft will reveal the Xbox Series S in August 2020 along with all the features and specs of the digital gaming console.

The leaked documents indicate that Xbox Series S will have 4-teraflop GPU and 7.5 GB RAM. While it is still less than the standard Xbox Series X specs of 12 teraflops alongside 13.5 GB RAM, it has the benefits of digital gaming making everything much faster and smoother. It is also reported that Microsoft will also reveal the price of the Xbox S Series console and it could be somewhere between $350 to $400 as per the rumors.
Xbox Series S: Project Lockhart vs PlayStation 5 Digital
Xbox Series S vs PS5 Digital could be the real rivalry of this year’s gaming console market as most of the gamers will opt for the discless version only. Further, the lower price compared to regular Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, also makes it a very attractive product. It seems that Microsoft is planning to capture the affordable digital console market by releasing Xbox Series S: Project Lockhart next month where it will also have a lower price compared to the PS5 digital console.
