When it comes to Pelicans, everyone is aware of what they are capable of doing. After exchanging experienced Anthony Davis with young talent, they found some gems. But the real star behind the success of New Orleans is Zion Williamson.
So, it came as a shock for their fans, when Zion only played for 15 minutes in Orleans’ 106-104 loss against Utah Jazz.
The Athletic’s Sam Amric said that Williamson’s health was driving force behind the decision to sit him.
Appearing on Friday’s edition of “The Dan Patrick show,” Chris Haynes claimed that Williamson was pissed about his handling by Orleans in the NBA restart opener.

According to Haynes, Pelicans doubted his potential of winning games for them. But the plan is to get him out there in three to four minutes bursts. He also reported that the star was unaware of the fact that he was going out for only 15 minutes.
Pelicans don’t want to risk injuring the player as hunger of winning the match was seen in his eyes. His weight and shape have been also a major concern. Many expected that Zion will a ready made material to get injured. Due to ongoing pandemic, they were concerned about other players health as he spent a week with his family outside.
Unfortunately, after they lost against Utah Jazz, it pushed them at eighth spot in the pointstable. This reduced their chances of making to the playoffs.
Pelicans made a decision to save Zion for the future games. But while making the decision, they never considered what the player wants and how much time he needs to stay on the court.
Despite the usage pal, many felt that Williamson had something special in him that can put his team over the top.
